Having your family photos in the Columbia River Gorge is always a good choice in my book. I am obsessed with the landscape out there, and the best part is that it looks amazing no matter what time of year you do your family photos! This family took a chance and booked their session in February, and the photos turned out amazing. There are several locations I like to use for family sessions, ranging from a distance of 40 minutes from the Portland metro area to just over an hour. The drive along I84 is scenic and makes for a great day trip. Hood River is my happy place, and there is always fun things to do there! A few of my favorite places to visit in Hood River are Double Mountain Brewery, pFriem, and in the summer, Mike’s Ice Cream.
In my opinion, it’s right for any family who is laid back, go-with-the-flow and looking for truly epic photos! Ok, but logistically speaking… the locations I use require minimal to medium amount of walking, and all have parking nearby. Whether you have a baby or bigger kids, we can make it happen! If you are dressed appropriately for the weather, there is really not much difference as far as the overall experience compared to a regular family session. I always encourage clients to select their location based on the overall vibe they are looking for, not based on proximity to their home. I know that the park down the street may feel easier, but if you are already investing in family photos, you may as well go all the way to get the look you want. Trust me, it’s worth it… but scroll down to see for yourself!
